prowling

i went to the store to buy raspberry jelly for thumbprint cookies, and found my town the best i've seen it yet. there was a street fair today, with screaming children and drunk father's and enormous hot dogs. but tonight it was quiet, with all of the booths shut up for the night, and that eerie carnival feel that i have coveted since reading Something Wicked This Way Comes. tomorrow i will go get a giant hot dog, and look at all of the wares that i can't and probably wouldn't afford. but tonight...

return to civilization

so, i fell off the planet for a while. or rather, i fell off the internet. after a long furious battle with at&t, i finally have dsl and new though not entirely interesting news. i now have a job and a great but very empty apartment. my job pays way too low, but at least i have money coming in now, instead of all flowing out. goddamn california is expensive. the Boy and i are going to the fecalface art opening on august 2nd, and i am going to meet his boss for the first time. and for some reason i feel like the little wife who has to wear a fresh apron and smile pretty. he's meeting her for the first time as well, so it's really just me being crazy. i'm ready to go exploring on long country drives, and stay out all night with Big City People again. i'm ready for california.

p.s. the first night i went out drinking in san fran i got drugged and my wallet was stolen from my back pocket. it's good to be back!

frustration

all i want to do is get a library card and set up dsl for my apartment. i've been at the library for an hour and the internet has confused and berated me and now i am going to go read until my head stops spinning. i can't get a library card until i have a utility bill or something with my address ( which i already knew and forgot) and dsl... well, fuck dsl. they want a lot of money for something that doesn't really cost that much. i know this because my sister's bf gets it for like fucking pennies. everything has gone so uncannily smoothly so far, i should just thank whoever is listening and suck it up. i guess that is what i am going to do. thank you.
